Look at that, americans using averages instead of medians for once. 😁 Might look slightly better for Europe with medians.
Would be cool to see income after taxes... worse for 99% of Europe I expect.

We brought it on ourselves. In high trust homogeneous societies, not too much taxes were wasted at first.
I think tax pressure levels were unrelated to the introduction of the euro.
Edit: Except for maybe Greece (and Spain?) who were completely unsustainable with early pensions and a lot of tax-evasion. But that's an outsiders perspective.
