Hezbollah Blamed for Deadly Golan Heights Missile Strike, Says U.S.

The U.S. government has accused the Lebanese Shiite militia Hezbollah of carrying out a deadly missile strike on the Golan Heights. According to Adrienne Watson, spokesperson for the National Security Council, the missile originated from a Hezbollah-controlled area. Watson emphasized the need for global condemnation of the attack.

Following the incident, the U.S. has been in communication with both Israeli and Lebanese officials. The U.S. reaffirms its unwavering support for Israel's security in the face of all Iran-backed threats, including those from Hezbollah.

Efforts are underway for a diplomatic resolution along the Blue Line, aiming to halt attacks permanently and ensure the safe return of residents on both sides of the border.

The Blue Line, drawn by the United Nations, marks the boundary between Lebanon and Israel. Post the 2006 Lebanon War, a buffer zone was established in southern Lebanon.

Israeli sources reported that on Saturday, an Iranian-made missile struck a football field in Majdal Shams in the Golan Heights, killing twelve people aged 10 to 20. Israel holds Hezbollah accountable, though the group denies involvement, suggesting an Israeli defense missile caused the explosion. The news outlet "Axios" reported this claim, citing U.S. government officials.
