liquidity issues like inbound/outbound capacity(lightning is a second layer which is totally different from the mainchain one, it is a smart contract for users to transact in bitcoin without broadcasting any trx once a channel is setup. It needs both parties successfully connected and move their bitcoin to an address for the lightning smart contract first. When transacting, two parties have to look at the capacity depends on the contract they made. Sometimes both parties are not necessarily directly connected so they route the trx with other channels in between. Usually it is the shortest and cheapest path for both parties to connect with each other.
