Left Proton a few years ago and couldn't be happier - why keep "spoon feeding " me more services when ALL I need a secured email...

Hmm, what about storage?

you mean cloud storage? I don't use any.

I use cloud (Proton) as a backup only, in case SHTF. I'm curious, what do you use to synchronize your files, notes, and media across your phone, laptop, and tablet (if applicable)?
I'm using Syncthing, which runs locally and seems to be working well. In the past, I used Nextcloud for about two years but ended up switching because I found Syncthing to be a simpler and safer solution.

I don't really trust Proton or any clouds, I also tried Nextcloud before, but then I realized that I don't have so many things that need to be synced across laptop or phone.

files & media: USB with veracrypt notes: Standard note and physical notebooks
I'm going low tech. 👀

physical notebooks

I even took a course to make it the way I like:)
For real, physical notebooks are one of the best ways to keep notes, not only can you put things the way only you would be able to "decode" , and simply destroy them when you no longer need them too, 0 traces - let's say you delete the data in the clouds, but who knows is it really deleted?
