It's Saturday, thus it is poll day!
The Olympics are almost over and I don't know what to make of these games. There were some exciting and memorable moments. Canada had a pretty good showing with 25 medals but a lot of the good seems to have gotten lost in the controversy and politicization of the games. I found I just got tired of it all by the second week.
What is your overall feeling of the 2024 Paris Olympics?

That's good, because I lost track of time.

Sorry, we had dinner plans with our daughter!

@Public_N_M_E auto drafted for you and @Coinsreporter
reply
Thanks, @Public_N_M_E -- I thought I had autodraft turned on, but I hadn't double checked.
reply
No problem, I had a bit of a faff around with the system tryna work out how to get it to auto draft ๐Ÿคฃ but we got there and it was a fun auction. Make sure you log in and check over your team, you may want to make some trade offers or if you just don't like certain players utilise the waivers.
reply
I only watched a handful of highlights. It never really grabbed my interest.
The actual games paled in comparison to the fun of @Coinsreporter's pool.
reply
Agree the pool made it a lot more fun. Even though I should stick to baseball pools. Olympics apparently not my thing.
reply
Thanks!! Without you and @grayruby, I couldn't even imagine of running any sort of pool.
reply
India didn't perform very well so I watched only 2 or three games.
reply
Yes, too bad about the wrestler that got disqualified.
reply
For only 100gm. Very disappointed moment
reply
India is just one short of its highest number of medals ever and you calling it a bad performance!! I'd call it a very good one.
reply
I enjoyed it to a certain extent, I enjoyed it especially because Spain won gold in football and I enjoyed tennis too, little else.
reply
The highlight for me was the triumph of Novak Djokovic, who I really wanted to see win for a variety of reasons. Now he really is the greatest of his sport!
reply
That was a great moment for the GOAT especially right off the disappointing Wimbledon Final.
reply
And what a great reaction.... all this pressure since 2020 fell off him
reply
After watching that opening, I just chose to opt out this time around. Saw some funny memes on shooting, and cool pictures of swimmers.
I don't like supporting the humiliation rituals and downfall of society. I also don't want to participate in Bread and Circus behavior.
reply
Completely understand.
reply
I have to admit ping pong ๐Ÿ“ and badminton ๐Ÿธ are fun to watch
reply
I've worked a previous Olympics and I didn't watch 1sec of live coverage and probably less than 10mins of total coverage, what a complete joke.
reply
Hey, Bellzer. Haven't seen you on in awhile. Are you joining the NFL pool this year?
reply
Been trying to get a better job, new gig starts tomorrow. Whens the draft and whats the buy in?
reply
I was talking about the NFL Survivor Pool. We just completed the Fantasy draft last night. The Survivor Pool will be 20k sats buy in and I will send out the details later in the month. I will tag everyone that participated last year.
Congrats on the new gig.
reply
Thanks, excited to get a raise lol
reply
Didnโ€™t watch
reply
I have enjoyed as much as possible. Tried to be aside of political issues. Sports are sports, politicians should stay aside. Spain has done worse than expected but that is always the same. I have enjoyed football, tennis , handball, some athletics and judo. Also canoe slalom was really funny!
reply
The Seine river being too dirty for swimming.
The terrible accommodations at Olympic village. No air conditioning. Limitations on food and meat. Uncomfortable beds.
reply
Yes, this is my point. The opening ceremonies, the issues with accommodations, the river being a health risk, the controversy over men fighting as women. It all detracted from the event.
reply
I watched some of the swim events. Even swimming was a disappointment because the pool was too shallow and slowed everyone down.
I guess the highlight was the menโ€™s 100 meter photo finish. But Noah Lyles is hard to cheer for after his obnoxious entrance in the 200 meter final.
USA men still canโ€™t exchange a baton in the relay race. Another disqualification
reply
The Canadian 4x100 relay team thanks them for their disqualification.
reply
The first exchange was a disqualification
Hilarious

USA team USA ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ won men basketball ๐Ÿ€
I was wrong
Serbia was close France got it to down to 3, 79-82
reply
Didnโ€™t see any of the final but the semis against Serbia was a really good game. Looked like Serbia had it in the bag.
reply
Not excited...so waiting for English Premier league next week. ๐Ÿ˜
reply
I would say I loved it every minute because I had to for the sake of computing polls! Also, I think that all the controversy happening this time are fun from one angle and sometimes sad.
reply
You're right. By the end of first week, I also lost my interest in it.
reply
Haven't watched one second it.
