I love watching Hollywood movies from any time periods. Some of my favourite ones are Moneyball, Robcop, The Godfather, Titanic, Cath me if you can, Knight and day, all Marvel movies, Sherlock Holmes series, Ocean 11 series, etc. etc.
I'm really struggling to find good movies to watch lately. I had +500 movies in my laptop, all watched. I don't stick to a genre. Rather, I would watch a movie worth watching. The ones you know we say 'must watch movies'.
In case you ask me why I asked this question on SN. The answer is simple, I think it'll always be better to get a movie suggestion from real people. Haha!
So, please stackers! Tell me.
What are some of the movies you loved watching or you think is a 'Must watch' (No series, only movies and documentaries)?
Thanks in anticipation!
Sats for all!
Remark: I also couldn't think in which territory I should post it. I'm going with ~alter_native. If you think it should be posted in some other territory, please tell me.

I wish they did more movies together. Such a great team.
reply
You're not wrong there. Their collaborations seem to have dried up recently, which is a shame.
@IamSINGLE Hot Fuzz is part of trilogy here's the first

Shaun of the Dead

and the last one

The World's End

You don't need to watch them in order. All brilliant

Another classic that you can watch over and over again and never get bored of it. When a director, script, actors, photography and everything else come together perfectly and just get it so right.

+500 movies is a whole lot of time. But I think many of us have watched in hundreds.
For the suggestion
  • The big Labowsky
  • Nope
  • Cast Away
  • The Butterfly Effect

Paradise Now
Enjoy my movie review: Paradise Now explores the motivations of two Palestinians Said and Khaled to become suicide bombers as a form of protest against the occupation by Israel. stripped bare, it reveals how desperate one can get if he feels oppressed and impotent and wants to do something-anything-to redeem himself and make a statement. i liked how a change of heart is sensitively and plausibly protrayed after their separation from their handlers. Khaled (the man in the car), who was more determined initially, began to have second thoughts and questioned the worth of their act. He didn't follow through his suicide bombing act.
On the other hand, the initially more hesitant Said became more resolute. The movie ends with him sitting in a bus full with Israeli soldiers and the viewer is held in suspense as all sorts of questions gush over his mind. will he detonate himself? could he change his mind? will i see the explosion? what is he thinking? and while you are willing that you won't be seeing anything awful, the camera slowly moves up closer so that Said's eyes become the focus of the screen.

Mousehunt

Now this may seem a bit left field, a kids film, but no, this is a Laurel & Hardy esque comedy. An absolute gem, beautiful filmmaking from Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean). Nathan Lane, Broadway actor is fantastic in the Oliver Hardy role and ironically British comedian Lee Evans does the Stan Laurel role and is superb. Also Christopher Walker is on top form.
reply
Awesome! This one is gonna be on priority for sure!

Hunt for the Wilderpeople

Just such a great movie, you'll enjoy this New Zealand film from director Taika Waititi with Sam Neil

Snatch

An absolute classic from dir Guy Ritchie with Jason Statham and Brad Pitt. Arguably Brad's best ever role.
reply
Great movie but already watched!
reply
Ok, so before Snatch Guy Ritchie did another London gangster caper, very much in the save style. Really good movie. Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels
reply
Great film!

Matchstick Men

Honestly, this movie should get more attention. Ridley Scott directing with Nic Cage and Sam Rockwell. Cage & Rockwell are excellent as con men, the story is just brilliant.

Moon

Had chance to think and I remembered this one.
I loved this film with Sam Rockwell & directed by Duncan Jones (Bowie's son). It's a real slow burner, quiet and thoughtful. A very underrated sci-fi, should have got more awards. They don't make films like this too often. Sam's excellent and the film builds nicely, a great story.
Don't watch the trailer, you'll ruin it for yourself.

There will be blood.

Oh. I see someone already suggested it. Another suggestion is midsommar.

ESCAPE FROM PRETORIA

I'm trying to think of offbeat films that you might not have seen. This one from Daniel Radcliffe is fantastic. It's a true story prison break film. Dan is great and his South African accent is spot on. Edge of your seat stuff.
