Yep, it's relatively compatible. When I trained BJJ, we spent a few weeks of the year doing takedowns most of which were Judo-based.
Nice. How long did you train BJJ for?

Only 18 months 2-3 days/week. I'd still do it if I could stop myself from obsessing about it to the detriment of other things or if I found it more natural so maybe I wouldn't need to obsess about it. I saw an appreciable difference going from 2 days/week to 3 days/week, so I'd recommend a minimum of 3 days/week.
It's a great sport on a number of levels. Met one my best friends training. He got his brown belt last year.

My best friend has been doing BJJ for years. I used to take kickboxing lessons with him and he moved on to BJJ. He has competed a couple times at tournaments. He loves it. I think he is also a brown belt. He hopes to get to black belt eventually but is only training a couple times a week so it will take some time.

One of my favorite things about BJJ is how long the road to mastery is and how viscerally obvious it is when you aren't a master. It weeds out high time preference people fast.
