The more funding and support from other countries the better! Honestly it is a net benefit for society overall if we can get to Mars, not just being the first ones to go. Hopefully India can contribute to this area! Many smart people, and advancing technology.

India successfully placed a spacecraft into Mars orbit, and became the first country to do so in its maiden attempt.
That too without funding and too much support! ISRO knows how to do wonders in so much less money.
