pull down to refresh

I was born and live in West Africa. In a territory declared independent since 1960 but which is still monetarily colonized by France supported by Western financial institutions through the CFA franc currency.
On January 11, 1994, I was two years old when France and these Western financial institutions unilaterally decided to devalue the CFA Franc by 50%. This measure will have lasting disastrous effects on the African masses. Thus millions of Ivorians, Senegalese, Beninese, etc. saw their wealth go up in smoke. For people like my parents, lowly civil servants, it meant losing half of their hard-earned savings in a single day without any recourse.
Nowadays, as the European economies move towards dark days, African countries using the F CFA again run the risk of an even more drastic devaluation. This time, however, things will be different. The African masses have bitcoin. They stack satoshis and won't be fooled twice.
I wish the best to the people in west Africa.
So much potential and good for mankind possible in this area 🙏🏻🙏🏻

As an African myself I hope so man, we need bitcoin, despite having so much gold in Africa, we never reaped the benefit of it nor did we have a gold standard so we could built out our societies, we always used shitcoins, now is our first short at a hard money standard and ill be damned if I dont take a gift like this and push it as far as I can

I have been learning about the CFA recently through Alex Gladstein and because of the news from the Central African Republic. As a US citizen I knew nothing about this disastrous neo-colonial situation. Do you think there's enough awareness/adoption of BTC to really help if a big devaluation happens?

In my country, somewhere in West Africa, the devaluation of the CFA was followed by an additional 70% reduction in civil servants' salaries. (Most people with stable incomes were civil servants: doctors, teachers, etc. 🚩😵‍💫)
We observed the middle class disappear overnight; it was horrible. The social consequences of these measures cannot be overstated, and we still suffer from their impact today.
The problem with the CFA, along with the “colonial pact” imposed by France, is that they maintain the illusion of independence of our countries. But let's be honest, it doesn't necessarily mean that we would have been better off had we obtained “real” independence.
I have adopted the controversial position that independence came too early for many African french colonies; it was rushed, primarily because of the insurrections of communist activists in a globally well-coordinated plan to grab power from France. We were never ready.

good to here, but does bitcoin in Western Africa only concern a minority? . I also here that most people still consider it a scam, which is normal if you are not educated on the subject. also do most people have a good internet connection?

From an earlier post: Having recently learned about the CFA Franc and how they used it to extract the natural resources from the region, I'm thinking that China will try the same playbook but with their digital currency. I really hope Bitcoin will be ready to help out over there before people are forced into bad money again.
Which countries do you think will come out of this instability best positioned for the coming century?

Let's be honest at the end of the day it's not France or USA but the jews hiding behind a French passport or American passport who did this while convenietly leaving the blame on the ethnic French
Dollars to doughnuts if you do the research you will find some group of French jews that are behind this.
Oh and its also convenient that they label any criticism or noticing of their actions as "anti-semitism" or "hate"
