As I reflect on Labor Day, I question am I or others compensated ethically for our labor? Are we better off than when unions were first started to protect workers? The theft of our efforts for time look different, but at the end of the day is our global labor force any better off? What are your thoughts and why.

I've recently worked 3 union jobs, having never worked 1 previously, and I will never work 1 again.

Currently in many places in the world, especially in Latin America, work is not very well paid, with workers being exploited by long hours and low wages, for example: here where I am currently living in Peru, where that is the reality.

Thanks for sharing. Is it better or worse than in the past though?

The situation is worse because both Peruvians and immigrants are exploited at work.

Labor in most market systems has gotten out of control in the sense that the people doing the labor see less of the profit, and those who are doing no labor but are assuming some kind of risk see more. In other words, risk to the physical body is seen as less of an issue than risk to the portfolio.

Yeah I tend to agree. Interesting we can’t staff fast food or public pools by us, but people receiving government handouts are at all time highs. An honest data pay is now free for some and not existent to others!

That's a tough question to answer simply. Do you work in a coal mine? Do you sit in Starbucks on your laptop doing contracting work? Do you work from home?
I'd say most are better off than those women working in the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory:

Great points. I’m paid less equitable than pre COVID due to inflation.
