Well the idea is that if you own the license, then you always get access to it. It's a net gain for the consumer. It's proper ownership.
Compare this to digital goods today where your access can be revoked by Amazon or whoever at any time. Today, you're just a renter.

Isn’t a book not much different than a jpeg though in terms of the value prop? It’s just proof of “ownership,” right?
