Hello Stackers!
It's Thursday so that means it's Throwback Thursday Time!
Throwback Thursday is changing, (or rather, I'm trialing something out).
I'm going to give you a bunch of clues and I want you to guess the year and comment a song from that year. Highest ranked correct answer (by zaprank) gets the bounty.
ðšA guess without a correct song doesn't win, both your guess and the song must be from the correct year.ðš Here we go!
- Comet Hale-Bopp: This comet passed by Earth and was one of the most observed comets of the 20th century.
- Korean Air Flight 801 crash: This flight crashed on Guam during heavy rain, killing 229 people.
- Death of Princess Diana: Diana, Princess of Wales died in a car crash in Paris on August 31, 1997. She was 36 years old.
- Transfer of Hong Kong: The United Kingdom handed over Hong Kong to China, ending the colony's status as the largest remaining British colony.
- Super Bowl XXXI: The Green Bay Packers won the NFL Championship, defeating the New England Patriots 35â21.
- Titanic, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, and Men in Black were the three biggest films of the year.
What do you remember from this year?
Reward will cut off at the time I post the feel good Friday thread.

@TheMorningStar takes the bounty with the correct year, correct song submission and the highest voted (by zaps). Congratulations and thanks for playing ð
Wow! Thank you so much.
The best of all times? At least the best of 1997.
view on youtu.beThis song. Ooooooffff, it's just ð€ð€
ððð One of my all time favourites, it's such a beautiful song.
Her voice is so powerful. Definitely up there as one of the best of that year, but we can't discount artists like Celine Dion, or Sir Elton. We've had some ð¥ submissions. 97 was a great year. This might be my favourite though.
Celine and Sir Elton are definitely great singers but I like her more. This has been my go to song for years.
I don't blame you. It's going to be very tough to beat. Looking over all these submissions from today, 97 was a great year for music, foo fighters aswell, all saints, Leann rimes, Biggie, the verve, daft punk. Some absolutely massive hits.
1982's best one! It's for both @siggy and @grayruby https://youtu.be/FTQbiNvZqaY?si=dt90etVSejM3b_ez
Classic track
Hah! ð I forgot to type 47 of @siggy47
One day Siggy will tell us the significance of 47. One day.
Yes, I also hope so, One day. Siggy must have been enough! Why he put that 47 is another mystry about him.
I just assumed there had to be at least 46 other Siggys
I searched it and the answer I got definitely suggests there must be 1000s of siggys at least.
Now someone is going to create accounts for Siggy's 1-46.
Classic song, but not the correct year this time round.
Sorry my bad. I didn't go through the complete post.
I'm trialing a little competition with the throwback idea. See if we can make a small game for people. I doubt anyone's going to start googling answers for the sake of 1ksats. So it's mostly for fun, but if someone wants to post a track from a different year and not compete then I've got no problem with that either. The whole point is we Talk Music. Share Tracks. Zap Sats. In whatever capacity the users of the space want. I liked the song you posted by the way, toto are great.
That's surely a fantastic idea!
This is the slogan now for ~Music. Like it!
@grayruby came up with that slogan when the territory formed, so I can't take all the credit, but it is the ~Music Territory motto for sure.
I thought I just added something to what you already had. I don't recall.
I had a crappy logo hastily put together in MS Paint. You did a much better one, with the slogan and I liked it enough to keep it.
Great Deftones track.
Here is a throwback for you.
view on www.youtube.com@siggy47 do you know this track or was it only popular in Canada?
Wow! Yes I remember that. It was a big hit, but I have not thought of that song in years. I didn't recognize it until the chorus. What year did that come out?
Song was released in 1971. They are a Canadian band, and were very popular in Canada, but I wasn't sure if they had gained any notoriety in the US. A bit before my time but it still got a lot of play on Canadian radio as I was growing up.
I was a kid, but I remember it well, which means it was a big hit. A lot of songs from that era still get played a lot, but not this one.
This still gets played in Canada. We have Canadian content rules for radio broadcasters. 35% of content must be Canadian in some way.
Come on! Are you messing with us?
No.
Isn't All Canadian content is now either American or Punjabi?
The content just has to have a Canadian involved. So you could have a song that was released by an American band but a Canadian was a producer or sound engineer or one of the song writers then it is also considered Canadian content.
Not heard this before, and it is the wrong year so you won't be able to qualify for the bounty, but the song is great.
Yeah, I didn't read the rules again. I just shared a throwback track. I will try to remember to follow the new rules next week but no promises.
That is one fine hat.
Massive track, but not the right year.
1997... you actually also included it in the hints :) R.I.P. Biggie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glEiPXAYE-U
I can't believe I did that, that was a copy/paste error. ð€Šââïžð€Šââïžð€Šââïž ð€£ð€£ Ah well, still some fun songs to listen to. RIP Biggie. ð«¡ Huge song.
'97
view on www.youtube.comWasn't expecting to hear a jazz track submitted to this. Very good.
Thanks! Gotta throw some curveballs every once in a while.
This is what I love about this space. So many different genres represented in these posts and the dailies. Gives me loads to listen to.

view on www.youtube.comNot the correct year for the bounty but a great song nonetheless.

Here we go. One of my favorite. I guess this one is correct. https://youtu.be/1lyu1KKwC74?si=Kb0moLW5mQ-8OVF7
It is indeed correct. And this was such a massive song! Great submission for this week's throwback. Thanks for playing ð
Think you gave it away with the third hint lol.
Oh no!!! ð€£ð€£ I forgot to edit that bit out ð€£ð€£
Ah well, the winner is based on which tracks the users vote for, so hopefully the fun part of enjoying the tracks from that year is still there.
1997 Never Ever by All Saints.
view on youtu.beWow! This is a real throwback! Great submission, and yes the year was '97 the height of britpop era.
The Year is 1997.The Year is 1997.

Leann Rimes! Wow! Massive throwback, and she's got such a gorgeous voice. And yes, it was indeed '97 (sorry for not proof reading my clues ð€£).
"monkey wrench" It is 1997.
I want to see this live so badly, such a massive big energy track. And you're spot on with the year. Thanks for playing ð
