I've recently stumbled upon https://www.bitcoin4youth.com/ and it's a great source of materials for the kids and parents. We also had recent posts like #678286 (comments there is a gold mine) and my experiment with monopoly here #656614 Makes me wonder if stacker news are ready for "Bitcoin is for kids" territory or what do you think?)
Wen and who's gonna do it?
reply
Well I've just thought it would be nice if you could do a joint territory creation on SN

you could keep an eye how @jeff is doing with ~econ, it's an interesting model. We are also brainstorming ideas for the ~AGORA, that for now it's manageable IRL, let's see what the future @SN has to offer

Oh thank you for sharing the zaps with me! I think it's great to have a place where educational information is shared to teach our children about bitcoin. In my post you left a lot of incredible data, pages, books and games for bitcoin education.

Good for kids i will show this to my brother

@cryotosensei where are you?
reply
Bitcoin ain't for kids, it's not even doable for many "adults".
reply
Kids don't have the baggage of knowing only fiat. And kids enjoy being their own bank. It's empowering.
reply
Exactly!

Kids enjoy playing, they're frickin' kids.
reply
Children LEARN by playing
reply
Guys c'mon, cut the crap, Bitcoin is difficult to even get the basics communicated to adults.
reply
That's why it's easier to explain bitcoin and Austrian principles to the kids, they are open to new things. I tell my kids stories about history of money and they like them. You don't need to understand how iPad works to play games. Or how internet works to call your grandma. Or how lightning works to stack sats. Don't expect the mass adoption where people understand how bitcoin works. When we hit mass adoption people will just know that it's a better form of money, and it magically works.

There is no better explanation. If we base ourselves on this philosophy that children will not understand because there are adults who do not, then should we not teach them about mathematics? Should we not teach them about literature? Should we not teach them about history? Or worse yet, should we not teach them about communism or capitalism because there are adults who at 50 years old still do not understand it? Everything has its process and its stages and obviously children are explained according to their age, level of understanding and curiosity, of course in a didactic way, in everyday life.

I agree with your opinion, it is impossible for children to be taught Bitcoin, but if they know it is not a problem, even though adults find it difficult to understand Bitcoin, especially children, in my opinion children are more focused on learning about discussions at school, not on forced to earn money.
It’s easier with kids. Adults have already to much preconceived ideas. They are less open to learn and discover things than kids.

Ye, got it, misleading title, what I wanted to say is that we need a territory for parents;)
reply
I’m keen for that
reply
That's a good question. But, TBH SN still needs to evolve in a big way to attract kids.
reply
Ok, the title is misleading, got it already:) territory will be for the parents
reply
Of course Botcoin is for kids and all ages, but who would be the audience for that territory? Parents?
reply
Yes, sources for parents, discussions, etc. And then our kids will create GenAlpha for Bitcoin territory :)
reply
It would be interesting
