Got the idea from @Undisciplined’s Zen series. In fact, have you read his recent The Zen of Unsubscribing yet?
As it stands, I have 37 referrals for Stacker News. I have no idea how many of them are currently active, but I can tell that I have reached a tipping point.
I have reached a stage in which the rewards I get due to my referrals’ hustling efforts outweigh my rewards gained from my placing in the Leaderboard. It isn’t like I have held back from posting, either. I post ever so often on ~Booksandarticles, ~FiresidePhilosophy, and ~Photography, among others.
However, perhaps because my obsession is writing about Gen AI tools these days, my writing here hasn’t gained much traction. Which is fine. I write what I feel compelled to explore on my smartphone screen.
Having a solid pool of referrals gives me the confidence to keep writing the things that stir my fancy. I can step off the gas pedal and not think about my Leaderboard placing. Those competitive days of March Million Madness are long gone.
Now, you must be wondering how I strategised to gain so many referrals. Well, I assertively promote the virtues of Stacker News on a writing website called Publish0x. I also shamelessly plug my referral link on my Facebook profile page, though none of my friends has told me that he is my referral. When you cast the fishing line into the pool, some people will try to bite it.
Referrals are a great way to put in solid POW now so that you get to enjoy the fruits of your labour later. This is why Zen is so apt to be used in the title. Stay humble and stack sats.
You've nailed it perfectly! Just wanna remind you that at least I'm the active one here. The same feeling here. It's been many times when my referral reward outweigh my regular rewards. I'm loving it.
reply
You deserve it!

I've been on the platform for a little over a week now and I can say that I've loved the reward system, it's great. You are the one who rewards quality content and you are rewarded when others like what you publish. It's not the platform, it's its users who decide who to reward. Having bitcoin integrated makes it even more invaluable, they really are the best.

You hear that @grayruby and @siggy47? It's my Zen series now.
reply
I shall begin copyright enforcement proceedings if you do not cease and desist.

Apparently @nout was the OG Zen master. #24357

I read it before! Good to read it again

Gone but not forgotten

He is not gone. He runs the gaming territory and commented last on Sept 6. He just doesn't spend entire days posting and commenting like we do. Haha
reply
I'm pretty sure he's also roaming around anonymously.

You can't copyright a title. I'm starting to see why someone used to be a practicing lawyer.

I was too busy keeping people out of the slammer to worry about intellectual property rights.

Some people do the work required to protect the liberty and freedoms of the common man. Others write articles about it and call themselves doctor.
reply
I use this joke all the time with a friend. He has a doctorate in psychology.
reply
Does he go by "Dr."? Most economists have the good sense to just go by their names, like normal people do.
reply
He does! I mock him. He laughs, but deep down I think he hates me for it.
I have to admit there are degrees along the spectrum where I can see it being justified. Any of the hard sciences, engineering. Maybe even economics. Psychology? No
Waiting for bated breath the first legal battle at ~Politics_and_Law haha

People here are rather competitive, huh?
😝
reply
Love to see it.
reply
I think all my referrals aren't here anymore. I think it was flash in the pan for them, they wanted some quick sats, and moved to another area.
reply
My referrals sadly don't do shit.
reply
He landed @Coinsreporter, which is pretty much that entire referral reward.
reply
So pumped by his success here haha
reply
... Because he pumps your beer money! Huh! I know it, don't try to deny it! I've got proof! 🕺
reply
We're all better because of it. Enjoy riding those coattails.
reply
Try, try and try again

This is good to hear. I have a few referrals and look forward to getting some more. It feels so good putting people on to stacker and the rewards are awesome. I really love the incentive structures here.
reply
Hopefully the incentives will grow huge enough to help you buy new mining equipment

Someday. It's tough being early. I am excited to be able to pay for the lifetime ownership of alter_native also.

Thank you! I didn't know we have referral reward also. I recieve rewards like everyday but this is new. I think I should also start referring people to SN. Will that be like passive earning?
reply
Yes passive earning for life
reply
You are a star! Not only producing really good content but also generating a lot of referrals.

All the best to you. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step

Looking forward to the next referral inception post “The Zen of the Zen of referrals, subscribing, and unsubscribing”

Don’t put ideas in my head!

Zen without practice is intellectual speculation.
The question is...
What was the word that preceded "Zen".

Hint
jnana—knowledge; yoga—of linking up
