Hey, I created a PR to support EUR as a preferred currency: https://github.com/stackernews/stacker.news/pull/192
Adding other currencies is straight forward, as long as the coinbase API supports it. So I am asking the crowd: Which other currencies would you like to have added?
Also, I am happy about everyone who takes a look at my code since I am still quite new to open source contributions. All feedback is welcome!
Countries with English speaking citizens would probably be the most common here, so these ones come to mind: CAD, AUD, NZD, GBP

Never knew they supported any fiat. Mine has always shown sats. And that's the way I like it.
reply
None. Fiat is useless. We are already in Sat Standard. We go forward to a bitcoin world not backward to stick with fiat.
To became a bitcoiner first you need to get out of your head the fiat currency.

Haha, I knew this was coming

I get your point but unfortunately, my salary, rent and food is still denominated in EUR so I would say EUR still affects me.
We are already in Sat Standard.
You pay everything in sats? Everything is denominated in sats for you, and the amount does not change depending on the current exchange rate of BTC/USD (for example)?

Yes, I live on BTC Standard for years. Is just a matter of changing mentality, your mentality and most of the people around you. Then create the circular economy. Is not about in which currency are denominated your expenses, is about with what form of money you are paying those expenses. Saying that "my expenses are denominated in fiat, so I cannot use my BTC" is really dumb. BE THE FUCKING CHANGE IF YOU REALLY WANT THE WORLD TO CHANGE.

I read it now. Very interesting story. This reminded me that I may know a similar store owner I can orange pill since we know each for some time now.
But for some reason, I haven't thought of telling him about bitcoin until I read your story. I only asked another store owner how much fees they pay due to card payments with asking about bitcoin in the back of my mind. (~80€ card payment fees per month)
I thought about asking someone if they heard about bitcoin but I was scared of sounding like a scammer, lol. But that store owner will probably be interested in listening.
So thanks for inspiration!

I can use my BTC but why would I when I am trying to stack my sats. We're still early. I don't have to be the messiah, the fiat system is already making itself irrelevant over time.
I think it's not honest to say "BTC standard" when everything obviously is not denominated in BTC yet.
Is not about in which currency are denominated your expenses, is about with what form of money you are paying those expenses.
Well, if it's a circular economy, it should be denominated in BTC. No?
I'll read your post when I have more time. Not sure if I already read it

Haha, never heard that one!
But yes, I'll read it.

I thought sn didn't support any FIAT currency?
reply
It's about the price tracker at the top. Currently, it only supports USD. Sorry, that wasn't clear from the post. This is the issue: https://github.com/stackernews/stacker.news/issues/103
reply
Ohhh yeah I ignore the hell out of that huh. I changed it to 1 sat = 1 sat now that you pointed it out.
reply
Thank you! I didn't realise that was an option. The future is so bright for SN!
