I remember when that story broke. I once had a brief conversation with Hersh when he was investigating a case I was involved with.
That's awesome! Can you share any details about the Hersh convo, or is it something that better remains behind closed doors?

It wouldn't dox me anyway, because it was a generic case. Nothing came of the investigation. I didn't have a lot of high profile cases, and this wasn't one of them. It was so long ago, early 1990s, that I don't remember much detail. I do remember not believing it was him on the phone. I thought one of my friends was kidding around. I literally said something like "yeah, right. My Lai massacre guy."

It is funny how in life that it is often the things that we do not view as the "large events" that later on we discover are bigger in hindsight than we then expected. We need some kind of movie background music to know the relative importance of the moment, I suspect.
Anyway, the early 90's would be during the Bush Sr. years, which were not especially good but were probably a sight better than the Bush Jr. years. At least, that's how I remember them.
