ok, so i have taught my kid (10 years old) how to use wallet of satoshi and explained a bit about inflation , but i was thinking of taking a more structured approach which got me thinking which are the main bits to cover and then how deep should i go on each bit?
i feel like one of the most important bits is explaining the WHY, the financial crisis and what lead Satoshi to make it, but how deep do i need to go on mining and nodes for example?
maybe i just need a few good analogies and then focus on usage ?

ELI5 Version
Imagine you have a lemonade stand. You want to keep track of how many cups of lemonade you sell, so you use a notebook to write down each sale.
Blockchain is like a magic notebook that lots of people have a copy of. When you sell a cup of lemonade, you tell all your friends, and they write it down in their notebooks. Then, they tell their friends, and they write it down too. This way, everyone has the same notebook, and it's hard to cheat.
Mining is like solving a puzzle to get a special sticker. When you solve the puzzle, you get to add a new page to the notebook, and you get a reward (like a sticker). This helps keep the notebook safe and makes sure everyone agrees on what's in it.
Nodes are like your friends who help you keep the notebook. They make sure everyone has the same notebook, and they help you solve the puzzle to get the sticker.
Bitcoin is like a special kind of money that you can use to buy things online. It's like the money in your piggy bank, but instead of being made of coins and bills, it's made of computer code.
Satoshi is like a superhero who created the magic notebook and the special money. He wanted to make a way for people to trade with each other without needing a bank or a government to help them.
That's Bitcoin in a nutshell!

Shouldnt you keep it simple and explain to him about supply and demand? How bitcoin has a finite amount compared to fiat?
reply
i was going to cover that in the why bitcoin part as i agree it's one of the most important parts :)

Maybe just do a savings game. You have $1000 of your local fiat currency and $1000 of bitcoin. Check in every month and see what happens.

Teach kids how, using whatever means of your choice, to acquire/receive, self-custody, and send/payment. Repeat!
When it come to kids, practicals is better than theory. Do it while they watch.

How deep do they want to go? Your teaching should match their enthusiasm.

i haven't really decided, im thinking really i should just cover the basics and stop myself going off on a rant about bretten woods, petro dollars and all the other stuff
my kid isn't some budding maxi that is like, dad, teach me!
but it's my job to make sure they are aware and will start their lives understanding the hold principle

Mine is younger and I don't have experience with 10yo, but I'll say this: Present the material to them, and give them time to discover and absorb on their own, don't let bitcoin override their current interests. When they're ready, you'll know.
I bought this book for my little one in 2021, to practice reading and having casual conversations on the subject. We don't talk about it daily, but when we do, it's usually when we're betting on something, sats is our default unit of account
