For any other tired parents, a relatable “kidism”: Mom: “Sweety, Mommy needs some down time.” Very verbal 2 year old: “No. How about some up time?!”
Business idea: Nap parlors for parents that provide educationally engaging childcare and relaxing pods in which tired parents can sleep.
Isnt it just enjoyable when you are taking a nap and they just come into the room like a freight train?

Delightful

haha It always seems to happen when you are the most tired! They have the most amount of energy.

Ours loves surprising people, so it’s usually a loud “SURPRISE!!!” right as she’s landing on your stomach.

I dont mind the surprise so much when they land on your stomach. What really bothers me is when their head hits my chin. I think I have PTSD from it. Especially during reading time, bouncing in my lap.

I agree

It always seems to surprise you, and just ruins the experience.

Ha! We have one who likes to sneak in and fall asleep next to me (lovely!) and another who runs in and jumps on any sleeping parent like a wrestler leaping from the top of the ring ropes (less lovely)…

I dont mind when they come in and nap beside me. But usually they are like a space heater, holy smokes. They give off so much heat!

He’s kind of like the opposite of my lightning node.
Me: “How about some up time?” Node: “How about I restart and redownload 862,000 blocks.”

There is never enough time up for a 2 year old. 💚

Not just 2 year olds. My 6 year old daughter was playing cafe today. She pretends to serve you food and drink. So she gave me some imaginary cake and then said she had some too. A couple minutes later she was running saying “I am going crazy” and I said “why”. To which she replied “that cake was a whole block of sugar. I had too much sugar”. Sugar rush simulation was definitely a new one.

Imaginary play can get rough when you dont do what they want you to do. Seeing a kid getting angry at this can be quite comical!

Yes a self contained kid proof room that you can nap and not worry about them disappearing or hurting themselves or anything else would be a good thing.

Luckily, I can use “yes of course it’s bedtime, see how dark is outside” again. In the evenings, at least.

Too scary to nap with kids around
reply
They have a real knack for being wide awake when you want to rest.
