Hi Stackers
I was riding to the vegetables market at around 40 kmph as usua. I wasn't wearing a helmet and TBH nobody wears it while riding inside our small town. Suddenly, in the midst of nowhere a cow came crashing into my bike from a side and as a result I just fell off. I wasn't hurt as it seemed but There was a car behind me that could barely stop a few inches from me. I wasn't as much terrified by a cow as I was by that approaching car. I hope you can understand the level of fear that could come over in such a scenario.
The driver of the car, many of the shopkeepers, passers by, a crowd gathered around me within seconds. The driver even offered me to take to the hospital. Someone came and offered me water. Someone else helped me stand up. Someone told me to try a little walk. One boy picked up my bike to the side of the road. Within 5 minutes, my mom and papa were also there. I was taken to the doctor, had some first aid for minor scratches. Yupp! I'm happy to be alive 😊, I'm fine now, I'm myself as ever.
But, after the accident that could possibly take my life for two reasons, one that I was without helmet and second the car might hit me very hard, I've just been thinking about the little amount I have in my wallet (actually in wallets). There's no way someone from my family could get to it if I was finished in the accident today.
So, I'm gonna take this like an eye opener and gonna be sharing the key and how to details with someone (most probably my father).
But before I do that, I thought of getting a better idea about how to do it. And that's why I wanna ask you all -
Do you share your keys with someone?
If yes, could you please (if you want) also tell me with whom do you share and why?
Thank you so much!I

You all know Darth opinion about this: if they were not capable to have my sats during my life, it means they do not deserve them.
Each individual must manage his own stash. After you die, everybody will fight like mad dogs for your stash and forget about you. So why bother? You are dead anyways, you can't do shit about.
reply
Thanks! I'm having a little different opinion than yours. If they fight after me, that's none of my business. I think I'm gotta keep the keys somewhere in a locker and just gonna inform someone how to claim the stash.

I don't want to tell you what to do. That's up to you. But what I can do is giving you advice and ideas to choose.
For example:
  • spread your stash in multiple wallets, not just one with all you have.
  • use timelock options. In case that the individual you were sharing the "instructions to claim" will want to spend that stash, without your knowledge and before you die, they will have a surprise that cannot spend that stash until the block height x... You can move that "time position" every time when is expired.
  • make it hard to "claim". FFS they must prove PoW for that. You worked hard all your life for that stash and they get it just like that doing nothing.

  • I've spread my stash so far in 2 wallets. Don't have too much. Will consider more in future. So, following you.
  • I'll do it for my future generation. Right now not married so, gonna share it with my father.
  • Third one is a great idea. But in not sure how to get it done?

See those 12 peaks far away? On each one there's one word... They must find each word and put them in the right order to be able to claim my wallet....

I've some really bigger ones in the Himalyas. I think that's gonna be a very steep task for them. I'll give it a thought.

All lost bitcoin go to all other bitcoin hodlers, so don't worry and enjoy.

nice try fed.
in case of my demise, the instructions to my loved ones are: keep stacking! i know someone whose son died in a fire and they have a heavily damaged hard drive, presumably with bitcoin that he received for a job a while back. the family doesn't know how to recover those funds, and they are not stacking.

I shared one of the keys to my 2of3 multisig wallet with family and friends (same key to all of them).
If I die, I hope they find or even specifically look for the other key in my belongings and figure it out.

Since I started my journey in Bitcoin, my brother has noticed that I have changed my thoughts towards money and I did everything related to the economy. Of course, at some point I had to confess or tell him about Bitcoin, but I have not yet revealed to him that I have wallets.
reply

It’s a hard one if you share with someone you trust that’s one thing but what stops someone else finding it from them
