Welcome to the 17th edition of The Daily Zap — A Daily Newspaper (Kind of 🙏). Here, you'll get links to all of the latest news and updates mostly from the last 24 hours, divided in Sections (much similar to pages on a newspaper).
Let's unfold!

~Bitcoin News of the Day

  • Swan Bitcoin has filed suit against a group of former employees and consultants, alleging they “hatched and executed a ‘rain and hellfire’ plan” to "steal" its lucrative bitcoin mining business with the help of Tether, Swan Bitcoin’s one-time ally and fundraising partner.

Global Trade & ~Econ

  • Mark Spitznagel, chief investment officer and founder of Universa, this was the start of an aggressive reduction in interest rates, as a highly indebted U.S. economy, which has so far defied expectations, will soon crack under the weight of interest rates still at historical highs. "The clock is ticking and we are in black swan territory," he told Reuters this week.

~Politics_and_Law

  • From the perspective of Western states, the history of international politics has been a long series of questions. One was the "Balkan Question," which since the early 20th century has referred to how and by what means a permanent peace can be ensured in that region. Another and related question that consumed the 20th century was the "German Question," or how to ensure the security of Europe with a unified Germany at its center. Another is the "Palestinian Question," which is shorthand for finding a formula that will enable the Palestinian people to have their own nation-state alongside the Jewish state of Israel.

~Stacker_Sports News

  • By losing to the Detroit Tigers 4-1, the 2024 White Sox entered the record books as one of the most inept teams in sports history. Friday’s defeat was Chicago’s 121st of the season, setting the Major League Baseball record for most losses in a single season in baseball’s modern era (since 1901).

~Tech & ~Science

  • Former U.S. President Donald Trump, who is the Republican presidential candidate, said on Friday he will seek the prosecution of Google(GOOGL.O), opens new tab if he wins the Nov. 5 election, claiming that the company only displays "bad stories" about him.

~History with Mystery

  • Strauss took an unlikely path to his perch as atomic policy czar. Born into a horse-and-buggy world in 1896, he first developed an interest in physics as a boy when he used a vibrating tuning fork to make waves in a bowl of mercury while waiting for a dentist to repair his tooth. He devoured books on radiation and wave mechanics in high school, but his dreams of studying physics in college after graduation yielded to the reality of his father’s struggling footwear business.

~Entertainment World

  • Las Vegas based production staff and medics spoke to News 3 about the MrBeast's game show and they share the same sentiment that the production was unorganized and poorly managed. One worker in particular named Rick called the production "beyond embarrassing" and said that they would not be surprised if the internet star’s team was blacklisted from the industry. Rick was a contestant wrangler throughout the production who assisted and coordinated the contestants.

Did you read the ~politics_and_law article? It's very interesting. If not, ibe published it here #703864 on SN as well because the link for subscription issues wouldn't be accessible to everyone.
reply
Not yet. Just perused your daily zap. Wanted to get my Saturday sports poll in early today before I dove into the rest of the SN content.
Your daily zap has become part of my SN opening routine.

Thanks 🙏
Your daily zap has become part of my SN opening routine.
That's what I envisioned with it.

Good morning, don't stop posting 👍 I'll stick with the sports news... it's incredible a team with a record of lost games that hasn't happened since 1901... Wow... they just have to wait for next season... things that seem hard to believe in the modern era of sports but that still happen!

The historical ignorance of referring to US interest rates as "historical highs" is astounding.
reply
What are the historical highs for interest rates in the US in reality? I don't know much of the history about it.
reply
In the 80’s they were close to 20%.
reply
That's what we call historic!!
Well, I don't think inflation as the biggest indicator of an economy's well being. India has more than 5 these days but it doesn't feel so.
reply
Just curious, could. you make it in more of a newspaper format?
reply
The newspaper format? You mean to design it like that? Can you please elaborate a little more?
reply
reply
And how am I suppose to do it here on SN?
reply
I dont know. I was just asking if it was possible. It would look cool.
reply
"Possible"? I think everything is possible but it would be so much time consuming that I don't think it's worth it.
You should try it.
reply
Thanks for the newspaper! It's very relevant.

Trump says - note that 'says'. He won't do it and definitely can't do it without having support from judiciary. I don't know why he opens his big fat mouth for nonsense.
reply
Not only latest, but also, interesting News and Updates.
