I learned several methods of glancing through texts even as a kid, that is natural for stuff that you don't respect, and especially where you're merely looking for things like confirming if it matches some big picture you're very well aware of.
All MSM text is a good, current example.
Then of course text that I really respect and want to understand are read at times where I can totally focus, reading every word from cover to cover, that has not changed since I was maybe ~13.
Watching videos at insane speeds? Now that is simply degen insanity, trying to get a number of stress induced, medical conditions haha!
Of course I understand your point, there are things that sometimes are not very necessary to read and let's say that it is acceptable to skip some lines, but reading absolutely everything under "diagonal" style, I don't know, it seems strange to me.

Everything, yeah, definitely!
Might even have something to do with not getting the proper training for the eyeball muscles and reflexes, that is something that happens when you learn to read, and which should be way harder later on...
