Yeah, I said it. This is barely a superhero show -- if you have never seen any Batman media, only the references to a flood at the end of the last movie really matter -- but it's an amazing crime show. Colin Farrell is really giving the best performance on a mob show since Gandolfini. Cristin Milioti (who I main know from comedies) is giving the best performance of her career, and Rhenzy Feliz, a kid I'd never heard of before, holds his own with the other two.
The action's tense and often brutal, and this has become our most anticipated weekly show super quickly. Can't recommend it highly enough.

It bugged me at first since it almost seemed like an imitation of the Sopranos or a Scorsese movie with those gumbah NY accents, but I have to agree. Those first two episodes I watched were very well done.
I hate everything Marvel/DC comics, but the first Joker was good. I think of this show like that. Not part of the crappy franchise.

Reading this comment reminded me that you've probably already seen Better Call Saul. If so, do you think the show represents the reality of many lawyers or is the show too made up? If you haven't seen it, you should! 🤠

I have probably watch the series straight through 2 or 3 times. I'm a big fan of everything Breaking Bad. Saul is sort of an exaggerated composite. I have known a few lawyers who have done things similar to him, but he's kind of over the top.

it's been sitting in my "curious" list a few days, but I've been skeptical because all the superhero franchise movies are such vapid garbage. Thanks for that, now I'll give it a go!

Last night I was faced with the choice to rewatch Sopranos or start Penguin. I opted for “feel good” Sopranos and omg the pilot with Tony and the ducks is still do good!
Now I’ll have to go back and start Penguin tho. Thank you!

I haven't seen this series, as I think it's still new and I don't like watching episode by episode. I like to watch at least one season to be able to give an opinion. Another point to mention, don't you think it's crazy to compare this extremely new material with something as big as "The Sopranos"? In my opinion, they are not in the same category yet to make comparisons between them.

It’s actually a simple crime series, but collin farrel perfomance made it tops. The make up is 1000/10, that’s not collin farrel at all, that’s the real penguin. Such a perfect combination, the acting and the make up.
