Good article. Also note that you can also use aliases in gmail, you just need to add a plus sign at the end and add whatever keyword you want.
So, in your example it could be yourusername+insertexchangenamehere@gmail.com and the email will be received at yourusername@gmail.com with the ability to filter it out, plus tracking who sells your data.

Just know that this does not help you for disassociating two separate accounts for hacks like this. So a hacker could reasonably guess your account name for other services and then hopefully you use a different password.
Use SimpleLogin or similar to generate a unique email per account as well as generating passwords and of course 2FA where possible.
