For many years I have enjoyed raising Lake Malawi cichlids, a colorful and interesting group of freshwater fish that are very popular among hobbyists. I like to think that awareness of these beautiful creatures and the income derived from their collection has improved the lake, rather than harmed it, while helping the local economy. Maybe I'm being naive.
