If you are having issues flashing the firmware Ive heard you have to use Chrome

If you are still having issues @siggy47 I have noticed that Linux can have issues with serial/USB connections. I don't have a solution yet other than use another computer (Windows/Mac).

Yep. I have been down this road before. I will be using my daughter's mac. I had the same issue with linux when trying to load Graphene on my pixel.

This fixed it for me on Linux

The issue is with the permissions on the serial device. One command in the terminal resolved it for me though I have to run it each time I plug the device in.
