So, today I have been receiving such messages intermittently.

I assume these zaps are given by Stackers who have already indicated an external sending wallet address?

If so, I have attached my external sending wallet too. But why is it that the zaps I pay out are deleted from my SN wallet? Or rather, what must I do such that the zaps I gift come from this external sending wallet?

yes.

If the stacker that zaps you has a sending wallet attached, the sats go straight to your attached receiving wallet. If you have a balance in your SN wallet, when you zap someone the sats come out of your SN wallet, otherwise they come out of your attached sending wallet.

If you have attached a receiving wallet, you should enable autowithdaw button and set the desired balance to zero. Then, all your sats will go to your receiving wallet and you will zap always from your external sending wallet. This way your SN wallet will remain always zero until November 5th. After that, in your SN wallet, you will have cowboy credits.
