OK, I guess receiving no zaps might be the remedy for over generosity in the past. I think getting with the program may get you many more steps up the board. It is a conundrum.

It depends what you want to incentivize. I don't go as far as Darth, but I don't feel obligated to zap replies. I am fine with zapping relatively minor comments if they're serving the conversation that's going on.

The incentives point is important. Darth says shit is shit but doesn’t seem to like to try to scrape it off the bottom of his shoe by explaining better posting. My take on it is that lost patience is lost patience and there is no correcting it.

I want to incentivize replying back, because that is what makes SN enjoyable. I realize half the time it is a wash, because the sats just go back and forth.

No, it probably isn’t a wash, there is a profit and a loss. That is called entrepreneurship. Learning how to make the profit is important in all endeavors, no matter how small, if you want to make a contribution.
