I've mentioned before that while I like true crime, I rarely like straightforward murder shows. I tend to prefer business crimes and scams, or cyber crime like Darknet Diaries or interesting takes like Criminal.
But I also love good story like this, where there's politics and international intrigue going on, especially since I remember the initial story about the guy vanishing, but hadn't heard what had happened. It (obviously) deals with the current political situation in China, but since the two main subjects spent so much time in the US and UK, it's got a nice international flair to it.
