Hi, I decided to make this post because I have recently seen that there are people who have been scammed in recent days, even that same user tried to scam me, but he did not succeed due to some small measures that I have implemented since I use the LNp2pBot below I explain.

A few days ago I was selling some

in the Telegram bot and the bot just notifies me that someone wanted to take my order, I send the

to the bot but the user does not proceed, telling me that he was wrong, that he wanted to buy a larger amount than what was offered, I told him that there was no problem and to cancel the order, and so far everything is ok.

My surprise was even greater when the next day I found this in the help chat offered by the Lnp2pbot Group.

I immediately realized that it was the same user who was writing to me to supposedly complete a purchase order with me.

But their method, which consists of opening an order for the bot to notify you, and then tells you that it made a mistake and that they are going to do it again, at that moment they send you a message identical to that of the bot with an LN invoice, just like it is done in the bot, that you pay the invoice so that the bot can hold the funds, until both parties give the ok. But in this case the invoice you pay is not that of the bot but an invoice created by the scammer in a replica of the bot, and once the invoice is paid! We already know that the payment is automatic and there is no going back. Their method totally failed me because of these simple measures that I have taken since my beginnings in the bot.

For example, having the bot "featured", any message from the original bot must be there, and second, I have the bot with a custom notification sound, any other sound, no matter how similar it is, is not the real one.

Another example is my privacy settings, which do not allow anyone who is not one of my contacts to see my number or my username to write to me and start a conversation with me unless I have given them my username, my number or written to them first beforehand.

From what I understood from the people 👥 who have been scammed, which were two or three that I could read in the bot's help chat, none of them used these measures, nor the one to highlight the bot to separate it from other chats, or customize the sound, and finally none of them had changed their privacy settings in the app, it was still the factory settings.

I hope this post can help others to be alert and prepared against scammers, if you are a user of LNP2PBOT or if you do not use it yet or do not know it, I invite you to consider these security options and to use it, it is a very powerful tool for P2P trade in small and medium amounts, you get many offers in EUR, USD, and many other local fiduciary currencies as well as offers in stable currency or Monero.

Yes. Always when you use telegram, activate to show the user id. How? On Telegram desktop go to Settings - Advanced - Experimental features - activate "show peer IDs in profile"

This is an unique number foe each TG user. Like that you can identify the impersonators and also you could ban the scammers by ID.

btw scammers stay away from me... barely the bother me. And if they contact me, first thing I just send them a LN invoice of 1M sats to pay, in order to talk with them. I know for sure they will never pay that invoice and just go away. Simple as that.

I've done this (reply with a LN invoice) also to my emails accounts. If some spammer is sending me an email, I just reply with a LN invoice. They never came back. Then my email server is putting them in a spam list and will automatically get a 5.5.0 NDR with the request to pay the invoice in order to remove them from spam list.

Scams and scammers will always be there because many people do not want to pay attention how to use properly all these tools / apps. Same happen with Bitcoin. People are lazy and do not learn how to use it properly.

You are absolutely right, my dear, and the most curious thing is that on many occasions we go practically naked without trying to take care of anything. I suppose we assume that everything is fine, but we are not really looking at the bottom of the matter.

Thanks for the heads up, it's something I keep in mind, nowadays that I'm learning how to be more conscious about online privacy, I'm already implementing the use of tools like Proton-mail or Tuta-mail for email, and for messaging, using Whatsapp or Telegram less and less every day. Now I use applications like simpleX or BRIAR for my personal messaging with my wife, mother and some colleagues who are making the learning journey just like me. I hope to soon pay for the "Threema" code at least for my mother, my wife and me. I agree, this bot is a great tool for P2P trading even if Telegram has so many issues. Robosats might be a better option but in some markets LnP2PBot has a thicker order book.
