Hey @grayruby @siggy47 @nym @Cje95 @Undisciplined I’m not asking this my friend is asking this, but there were only two runners on base when the second out was a fly ball that was caught.

Why did that lead to bases loaded? Is that a special playoff extra innings rule to add a runner in that case?

The announcer said, “he’s out but Dodgers gained 90 feet.”

They intentionally walked Betts after Ohtani hit the fly ball. The runners moved to second and third (hence the gain of 90ft) because Verdugo fell out of the field of play on the catch. Then they walked Betts because they wanted the Left on Left matchup with Cortes against Freeman.

Not sure. I can’t seem to find when it was instituted. It’s also difficult to get an idea of when it might have been changed just from memory because it happens so infrequently.
