You were absolutely right to do so. People don't like being lectured at and it's a fringe minority trait to be persuaded by reason.
Effective persuasion is usually about establishing credibility and being someone others admire. Jonathan Haidt describes humans as an elephant (emotion) with a driver (logic). The driver can guide the elephant, but it's much easier if the elephant wants to go that way. If you want someone to come your way, you want to get their elephant leaning in your direction first.
What about if I use the choke force on stubborn the elephant (aka shitcoiner or nocoiner)?

That's another way to do it

But a new money? I couldn’t even fathom that!

Yeah, I don't waste my time trying to convince people that aren't ready to actually engage. In the end, they're the ones who are going to have to deal with being wrong, eventually.

Yep. Time is on our side and we can wait for people to be interested in what we have to say. Similarly, there are plenty of people who are interested, so why not focus our efforts on them?

I’ve definitely got friends who are interested, but still nervous to get off zero!

What makes them nervous?
They can't spare like $100 to buy a few sats off Coinbase or something?

You underestimate the mental cost of “signing up” for a new account, especially a financial one in a world riddled with scams.
The banking relationship is the most trusted one. In average, once people open a new bank account, the usually keep it on average for 16 years!
