Increased rainfall could lead to the gradual “re-greening” of parts of the desert, similar to what occurred during the African Humid Period over 5,000 years ago. This could open up new opportunities for agriculture and settlement in areas that are currently uninhabitable.
Why are new opportunities in agriculture considered as “damage” long-term?
