Pretty interesting story in the collectables space!

Their brother and mother bought the first error coin discovered in 1978 for $18,200, which would amount to roughly $90,000 today. Their parents, who operated a dairy farm, saw the coin as a financial safety net.

What makes this coin special is that

The coin, which was struck by the U.S. Mint in San Francisco in 1975, depicts President Franklin D. Roosevelt and is one of just two known to exist without its distinctive “S” mint mark.

@siggy47

Do you remember the above story from 1978?

reply

I don't, but I wouldn't be surprised if I paid attention to it back then. I always liked to collect coins. Nothing fancy or expensive.

Good question!

reply

Wow what was that

reply

It didn’t have the mint mark on the dimes in the sets! Only two have been found and I doubt their are to many others out there given how long it’s been
