The answer depends upon your time preference.
Unfortunately, Kamala-people are high time preference types.
There are an awful lot of them around and more coming every day.
It's also much better for them politically to maintain a perpetually impoverished and aggrieved voter base to make empty promises to.

Yes, but the problem with that is that they become aware of the wall around the plantation.
Lately, the aggrieved and impoverished have started noticing that they have been aggrieved and impoverished for the last 60 years have remained that way with nothing to show for it except impoverishment and being aggrieved.
They are figuring out that they have been played by THEM, and they don’t like it one bit at all.
Perhaps when they are offered freedom, this time, they won’t ask for a bowl of porrage .

I agree. The impact of those promises seems to be getting as empty as the promises themselves.
