About a month ago I sent a questionnaire to the community and promised to publish the data. It's not a serious survey, just a small probe. For example, the data is biased by survival bias. Still, I think it gives a chance to look into the mindset of bitcoiners. After cleaning the data, 104 respondents remained.
  • On average, it takes people 2 years and 9 months from the time they first hear about bitcoin to buy some bitcoin
  • 86% prefer to receive income in bitcoin
  • But only 49% want to pay with it
  • 70% of people have less bitcoin than they want compared to fiat
  • People with a higher percentage of funds have a higher willingness to pay with bitcoin
  • Whether people have as much bitcoin as they want is irrelevant to their willingness to pay with bitcoin
  • People who have had bitcoin longer are more willing to pay with bitcoin
  • People who bought bitcoin for the first time in 2018 are significantly less willing to pay (they have probably been in the red for a long time)

For example, the data is biased by survival bias.
How so? Not sure if "survival bias" is the correct bias to apply.
Wouldn't it be "selection bias" if you mean that you only asked bitcoiners?

You are right. It's very similar. What I meant was, it's the people who survived the price storms of bitcoin 🙂

I wonder if you could create a Venn diagram showing the percentage overlap between "store of value", "medium of exchange" and "unit of account" groups.

Very sad how many more votes "store of value" over "medium of exchange" and"unit of account" have.
These blind people will one day wake up and get it. Show them the power of lightning.

Actually here at StackerNews is the ratio slightly better in favour of Medium of Exchange
  • 65% perceive the Medium of Exchange function of Bitcoin (compared to 59% in whole questionnairepopulation)
