About a month ago I sent a questionnaire to the community and promised to publish the data.
It's not a serious survey, just a small probe. For example, the data is biased by survival bias. Still, I think it gives a chance to look into the mindset of bitcoiners. After cleaning the data, 104 respondents remained.
- On average, it takes people 2 years and 9 months from the time they first hear about bitcoin to buy some bitcoin
- 86% prefer to receive income in bitcoin
- But only 49% want to pay with it
- 70% of people have less bitcoin than they want compared to fiat
- People with a higher percentage of funds have a higher willingness to pay with bitcoin
- Whether people have as much bitcoin as they want is irrelevant to their willingness to pay with bitcoin
- People who have had bitcoin longer are more willing to pay with bitcoin
- People who bought bitcoin for the first time in 2018 are significantly less willing to pay (they have probably been in the red for a long time)
