Finally, I got an invite code from Get ALBY. The long wait is over. I do not know what to expect as the hype about Get ALBY is beyond imagination but let us give it a perfectly nice welcome.
The welcome email is next to arrive it is a mutual welcoming right at a the bat. Now I have to test it myself. Since SN has decided to introduce self-custodial wallets, the race is on to attach my wallet to Get ALBY but there is a catch, I need to connect it immediately or die trying.
The image above is self explanatory. After trying for about three weeks, I finally made it work. Is the problem associated with this type of innovation? Of course not. You just need to find some solutions that will benefit you in a the long run.
It took me about a week to get this to really display the amount of SATS in my wallet. This is getting annoying but the challenge is to attach this wallet to my SN wallet.
The task of attaching my Get ALBY wallet to Stacker News relies heavily on this pairing code.
As you can see, the image above are the log reports from SN. It took me about another week to finally get this working. I cannot seem to make it receive SATS using NWC. As it turns out only the sending part works so I need to improvise again.
Now I have a wallet for receiving and another one for sending. I hope that it works.
November the fifth passed us by and the implementation was postponed. But the image above is a demonstration of things to come. I was zapped with 42 SATS and received 29 SATS.
This is a the screenshot of the Get ALBY interface. It allows you to unlink a wallet which is the same as the capability that SN is giving you when allowing you to detach from Get ALBY.
My Get ALBY page is now available.
Leave a tip. But I still doubt if it will work.
I linked my Nostr account to my Get ALBY account. Hope you like my presentation. It was a real pain in the neck but somehow I think it works. Fin.
Finally, I got an invite code from Get ALBY. The long wait is over.
This is the very reason I don't like Alby. It's an untransferable, unscalable experience so far. I don't like to use something I can not share.

Alby a new wallet hun what are it's features that's makes it different
reply
Their fees for LN payments are way higher than those charged by coinos.io
reply
We don't charge any fees sir, it's all routing fees, depending on your channel situation
reply
ok sir...in my experience the routing fees on alby are way higher than those on coinos.

Interesting... are you using Alby Hub or legacy (custodial) Alby Account? If the former, what do your channels look like? Would you like to provide example of a transaction?
We will try to make them lower!
reply
Its very hard to see the fees paid on past transactions- I looked but could not see them in any records on the wallet...at least not at first until I looked more...by looking under the globe symbol for 'manage your account'...not easy to find.
But I knew I saw them somewhere in the process of past payments so I just made one of 10000 sats to myself to another LN wallet- coinos and the fees cost was flashed up on the screen as the transaction processed 89 sats- but again there is no record anywhere I can find and once the screen flashup is gone I cannot find the fees cost.
Edit- Correction I have found the fees from past transactions can be found and its interesting reading. for a 1 sat payment a fee of 1 sat is charged. I never get charged that using coinos.io for such small payments.
So there you are 89sats on a 10000 sats transaction- maybe small potatoes but your fees charged need to be transparent and easily found - yes if you look they can be found but not easily imo.
So yes still much higher fees than coinos.io wallet.

I think its the legacy as I don't manage any channels myself- I just use it for transactions. Have found Alby does seem to have superior liquidity in some cases compared to coinos. Perhaps superior liquidity comes at a price which would seem fair?
reply
On legacy accounts we are charging 0.8% transaction fee, and the routing fees are charged by 'the network' ;)
We don't know CoinOS fee structure
