Hi, I'd like to comment on experiences I've had during my career that I probably won't repeat πŸ” during my life
I invite you to also comment on some experiences that you consider unrepeatable, they can be 1, 2 or more, they may or may not be related to Bitcoin
I now consider these experiences unrepeatable for various reasons or causes, whether they are specific moments, changing financial circumstances, or simply because I no longer see the world from the same perspective that I used to see it a few years ago.
Here are my 3 unrepeatable experiences
1. Sailing in a small boat next to a pod of more than 30 or 40 dolphins, being almost close enough to touch them.
2. Taking a 3-day trip, crossing half the country just to resolve a sentimental situation (it took 1 day and a half to get to the site, two hours in the place solving or trying to solve the matter, and then immediately 1 day and a half more to return to the place where I lived)
3. Migrating to another country with only $120 in my pocket and a plane ticket that cost me $30
Extra Fact: Seeing the shit of ETH at $100 during 2020 and Bitcoin below 10k obviously in those days I didn't know every aspect of Bitcoin. They told me to buy that, but my ignorance and fear didn't let me.
I hope to read about those extraordinary experiences that you have lived and that possibly won't be repeated in this capricious life.
As I wrote this post, I realized that I need to detail those Experiences so I'll leave that for a future post, for now I'll dedicate myself to reading the great anecdotes that the Stackers can share in this post.
Thanks for reading Stay Humble and Awake. πŸ’ͺ🀠⚑🍊
Cool! Never had a career but have life experiences.
  • Won't ride a scooter without helmet. Haha, I had an accident a few months ago.
  • Never trust a cat. I was bitten by a baby cat while trying to save it.
  • I won't waste time on watching daily soaps which I did a lot in the past.
reply
ok come on, sure a cat will bite you every once in a while, but you can put up with that, especially from a baby cat! that doesn't even hurt!
reply
that doesn't even hurt!
It made a hole accross my finger. Their teeth are so sharp. I'm sure you've not been bitten by them. However I still love them but I won't try again to get them out of a pit.
reply
I got scratches all up and down my arms from the cat that lives in my house whom I love with all my heart
reply
I still have pet cats. I also got scratches but that day was different. That was the baby of my pet cat, Nearly 1 month old. It fell inside an underground pit. It was terrified and crying loudly. There was noone at home so I just decided to take it out with my hand. As soon as I touched the baby cat, it sharply bit on my middle finger. It was bloody. It was horrific and I had to have 5 injections, which is more terrifying. Still, I love cats.

I understand you, when I was a child I had a cat named Maria that when I was about 7 or 8 years old we moved, and while I was taking her to the new residence, she tried to pet her head while she was inside the box, and she left that mark on me so that I remember that you don't touch a cat 🐱 when it's scared and locked up.

I was bitten by a baby cat while trying to save it.
it probably didn't understand you were trying to save it
reply
Yes, that's what I exactly guessed. I still have it around, never hurt anyone again. But it still doesn't like to be touched too much.

interesting! for me, they go like this:
  1. sleeping in a tent downhill from a castle during a music fest on my first night abroad, sobbing
  2. performing Abba's Waterloo in a zebra print suit to a fairly decent size crowd that couldn't care less about Abba
  3. unplugging from the matrix during a BLM protest, going home and resurrecting my personality

what's yours?

A tent, downhill from a castle during a music fest πŸ€” Fringe fest?
reply
um fringe fest..I don't know that. I'm not usually a festival goer. This was literally a Christian music festival that I attended with my high school english teacher, a 60ish year old woman

Cool prompt! Here's something similar to your third:
  • getting a plane ticket back home a lot cheaper because the woman at the counter noticed that I am giving her literally all the money I have which was clearly not enough but I still started to count all my change. She exempted me from some service fees and didn't even take all my money but left me some so I could survive until I got back home.
Thank you random airport woman in Sydney, I am sorry that I never asked for your name.

I think we've all come across that person with a really kind and charitable soul who does us some good gesture or favor in return for nothing, and which results in something really meaningful for us.
Thanks for mentioning

that is incredible

My experiences are
  • I've a regret of not pursuing what I wanted with my life or career because of some stupid suggestion. I though my economic condition wouldn't allow me to pursue a professional course but I was wrong. I say now that economic hurdles are only hurdles if you see them. If you overlook them, there aren't any.
  • I used to believe in God and spiritualism and also myths a lot. Now, I know that all of this is just a creation by humans, so never looking at these anymore. I'm happy I'm realistic now.
  • At one stage, I was thinking to do a job but now I'm the boss of my own.
reply
but these aren't experiences, like where were you when you had one of these realizations
reply
The OP didn't mention the experiences must be at a place. He simply asked for unrepeatable experiences/realizations. I thought it right I think. If I missed something from the post please enlighten.

I'm genuinely curious: where do you find meaning? What's your aim?
God may be an invention by humans, myths may be inventions by humans, agreed. But overall, they serve the purpose, innit? Humans cannot live without meaning, cannot navigate thorough life without a system of values. The more the organic, systematic and coherent the system of values, the less anxiety provoking is life and its challenges.
I do not believe in God in a strict sense nor I'm oriented towards supernatural beliefs, I'm curious about how you carry on and where you find meaning if you consider the death of God as a conquer for your human experience. Something shall replace it I guess, emptyness is not a solution.

If we are getting all phillisophical - can you every really repeat an experience?
To stick with the meat of your post though....some of my past experiences which will likely I will never come close to repeating would be....
Walking about a mile through snow, in shorts, carrying my boombox on my shoulder to go meet a girl at the mall :) didn't end well... (but I was cool just not in a cool way)
A certain shared hallucination between a buddy and I - feels like it happened yesterday though it was 30 plus years ago
Falling 30ish feet, when the top of the pine tree I was swinging from broke and getting up and walking away...of course after finally getting my breath back after having the wind knocked out of me... (I sure hope to not come close to this one again - pretty sure this experience is the cause of the bone spur I have on one of my vertabrae? but I never went to the doctor after so I can be sure)
This post is timely as I was just speaking with my love about having experiences that feel aligned with the universe....and these are some of those....apparently they don't happen to everyone?

I totally agree with you, my friend. I think it is practically impossible for someone to have lived the same experience as another individual in the same way. Maybe I was wrong, but if so, there must be a very small number in the probability of that event happening.

  • Running a full marathon. Once was enough.
  • Buying any other asset but bitcoin.
  • Giving advices to people who didn't ask.

Giving advice to people who didn't ask for it.
I totally understand you on the latter, in this case when that happened it almost never turned out well

In the early 90s, my wife and I came out of a local mall, JC Penney to be exact. Almost immediately, a rather desperate looking man approached me saying something like, "Excuse me, sir…" "He we go," I thought. He started in with the tough-luck story and I waited for the "can I have some money?" My policy is that I don't give money, I'll give food if I have some, or help if I can.
I didn't listen too closely to his story, waiting for the ask, something about Portugal, a cruise ship, two daughters, got to get home, the port, lost track of time, the cruise ship, get a fine, two weeks…on and on. But, his plea was different. First, he didn't ask for money. He opened his wallet, showed me, and actually had money. Secondly, as his unexpected situation came into light, things seemed to check out. The upshot was this…
He was a cruise ship worker who had come into port. He showed a cruise ship photo ID. Yes, there is a local port that ship's embarked from. He pointed the right direction. He said he was from Portugal, had two daughters (showed us pictures of them), and had come into town to, as I recall, get presents for them. Somehow, he'd either lost track of time or misjudged time or whatever, but was now in a time-jam to catch the ship before it left port. He was asking for a ride to the port and offering to pay for that ride. If I recall correctly, he had about $200 in his wallet and he was offering me all of it, or a lot of it, for a ride. He was desperate.
This was not what I was expecting. Skeptical me, I wondered at this angle. Was he trying to get us in the car to pull a robbery or car-jacking? Inviting a total stranger into my car, with my wife, is not something I do. Thinking back, I still am surprised that I did it, but there was something different about him and believable. I kind of looked at my wife, she has better instincts than me and her expression seemed to match mine, I said, "Yes, we'll do it."
There were logistical problems though. He said the ship leaves in like 20 minutes and the port was like 19 minutes away. Plus, at the time, my wife and I had a tiny Geo Metro convertible (people joke about the Metro, but we loved that car and still miss it). A Geo Metro convertible is definitely not meant for three adults. He didn't care and scrunched in the "back seat" which was actually just a gap of about eight inches to put a couple of grocery bags in.
I drove fast, which I don't do. He was nervous, but growing more and more optimistic as we got closer. During the ride, as we gradually realized he wasn't going to 'jack us, we kind of got more at-ease with him. His name was Alvaro D. (I still remember his last name, but don't want to totally dox him even this much later.) That's when he told more about his kids and Portugal and the cruise ship. He said if he misses the ship a series of bad things happen: it's been a long time, but I seem to recall something about not being paid or at least a heavy fine from the cruise company, being stuck for two weeks until the ship returns which means not being paid for that time period, now he is deemed as illegally being in the country (maybe more fines?), not to mention failing to get home to family and them not knowing what's going on (this was pre-cell phone, pre-Internet). All sounded bad and serious.
We finally got to the port and, just like he'd said, there indeed was a cruise ship. However, he calmly said, "We're too late." Sure enough, the ship had pushed away from the port and just a hundred yards or so away from the dock.
There were about five men standing around watching the ship leave. Alvaro walked over to them dejectedly. My wife and I walked with him. Alvaro explained the situation. One man, obviously the boss, was annoyed and immediately scolded Alvaro. Somehow it came out that he was the cruise line owner. Annoyed, the boss went down the list and mentioned something about fines, now they've got to put him up in a motel, something about "the authorities" etc. It was all spoken very rudely. "You got any money?" the boss barked at Alvaro. "No," Alvaro lied. Clearly, Alvaro knew he was in a helpless position, basically a legal slave, and had to keep his mouth shut and allow a demeaning overlord berate him. Going forward, he needed every bit of money he had. My wife and I knew he had some money, but we weren't about to rat him out. The boss was not happy about this money-less tardy worker. I said something like, "Is he going to be okay?" The boss didn't like this. "Who are you? Who do you represent?" He asked me. Obviously, the boss was asking if I was an attorney or a part of some civil rights group or something like that. (I should have said, "Yeah, I'm a bit time federal civil rights attorney, just rolled up in my Geo Metro.") I said something like, "I'm just a regular person, I want to know if he'll be okay, maybe I'll take a cruise of your ship one day." Since I was a nobody, the boss was done with me. He turned to one of his lackies and said, "Great, they want to take a cruise, book 'em a cruise," and he walked away without looking back. The others followed him, along with Alvaro.
It can still picture that scene. The men walking along the dock toward an office, Alvaro hanging his head, and the cruise ship slowly moving away from the dock. My wife and I just stood there, teary-eyed, then we drove home. Still remember that day.

Thank you for sharing your story with all of us. Were you able to maintain that loving experience? And because you don't repeat it, do you think it won't be worth it, my friend @ flat24?
reply
Were you able to maintain that love experience?
No! I couldn't maintain that relationship. That trip was full of self-reflection and understanding of the small world that existed in my head (obviously in those days) and the best of all is that that trip closed a cycle, which at the time I considered important (because of the time invested) so that once closed, I could move on to a new level on my personal scale.
