If you can find an English speaker they are usually more than willing to practice their English on you.
yes, and people naturally come to me ( to practice or being curious 😂✌🏽 ). and not sure am I got a bit of an advantage as a female, like ppl feel safer approaching me? Even kids would come to me to say hi, not sure if this would happen to male? But I like to hang out with the elder ones, young ones are generally a bit inexperienced or too busy with work, but some are good and smart but these are quite hard to come by.
Part of the bonus of being a foreigner after you adventured out of the tourist zones, people are super kind and helpful, even happy to invite you home for dinner, but then the idea that you can help others to see the world and show what's possible out there is amazing, I knew this because I wasn't growing up surrounded by foreigners and I wanted to communicate better that's what fuel me to learn English, and now I'm at the other side planting the seeds:)
I once took a longish journey in India on the local busses. That was very interesting. One time, the bus stopped in a small town by the local well. I had to get off to change busses, waiting about 2 hours. While i was waiting a large crowd gathered around me, staring intently into my eyes, I couldn’t figure out why until a young lad approached me and asked me, “Is everything you see blue?” I said, “No, why do you ask?’ The answer was, “We have never had an Englishman here before.” It struck me that all the people around me had only brown eyes and they had never seen a blue-eyed person before! They were very happy to talk with me while I waited for the bus. I guess they were somewhat surprised that I would sit there and chat with them as I waited. BTW, I am not an Englishman but at that distance, I figured it didn’t matter.
