An internet cable connecting Finland to Germany and another one between Lithuania and Sweden, both running under the Baltic Sea, were cut within 24 hours of one another. While accidental damage on undersea cables happens, CNN says these are rare events. So, the disruption of two cables around 65 miles apart and happening nearly simultaneously is a sign of sabotage, says German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius

Third article already I see about this. Seems like a obvious attack vector that might become more problematic in the future. What would be the viable alternative to undersea cables for internet data transfer? Cables have low latency and high data capacity...

Satellite, microwave lines, free space optics. Nothing can carry as much traffic as undersea cables unfortunately.

Do you mean viable alternative nation-wise or individually?

Individually, I would guess it's easier to solve. But how scalable such solution would be if everyone needs to use satellites, or other options, I have no idea.

Satellite equipment is expensive, highly unaccessible and can also be very unreliable (weather and climate dependent and easy to jam).

Sounds like a prelude to war! Cutting communications is many times the first indication that something will be happening.

It's a US false flag operation using Ukrainian and Polish actors.
There's an official video of Biden implying it. Many US journalists, writers and publicists confirm it.

Yes Biden warned if Russia invaded Ukraine then Nord stream would be shut down...
Hard to conclude who was responsible.

Think who can be interested in this action and what could be one's benefit?
Where is the logic Russia to blow its own infrastructure that is a huge wealth generator to its economy?
It's your choice who to trust but with the rapid falling authority of mass media like CNN and Politico (the sources you're citing) and the fact who owns them I would be deeply concerned about the authenticity of their info.
