An internet cable connecting Finland to Germany and another one between Lithuania and Sweden, both running under the Baltic Sea, were cut within 24 hours of one another. While accidental damage on undersea cables happens, CNN says these are rare events. So, the disruption of two cables around 65 miles apart and happening nearly simultaneously is a sign of sabotage, says German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius

Third article already I see about this. Seems like a obvious attack vector that might become more problematic in the future. What would be the viable alternative to undersea cables for internet data transfer? Cables have low latency and high data capacity...
reply
Satellite, microwave lines, free space optics. Nothing can carry as much traffic as undersea cables unfortunately.
reply
Do you mean viable alternative nation-wise or individually?
reply
Individually, I would guess it's easier to solve. But how scalable such solution would be if everyone needs to use satellites, or other options, I have no idea.
reply
Satellite equipment is expensive, highly unaccessible and can also be very unreliable (weather and climate dependent and easy to jam).
reply
I didn't see anything.

Sounds like a prelude to war! Cutting communications is many times the first indication that something will be happening.
reply
War has already begun- just not acknowledged by MSM.

WW3 has begun. Chinas proxies attack western targets. China is building an alliance to challenge the wests hegemony.

We all know what happened to north stream - who was blamed and in the end who turned out to be responsible.
reply
Who? Do you know?
reply
It's a US false flag operation using Ukrainian and Polish actors.
There's an official video of Biden implying it. Many US journalists, writers and publicists confirm it.

Think who can be interested in this action and what could be one's benefit?
Where is the logic Russia to blow its own infrastructure that is a huge wealth generator to its economy?
It's your choice who to trust but with the rapid falling authority of mass media like CNN and Politico (the sources you're citing) and the fact who owns them I would be deeply concerned about the authenticity of their info.
reply
China would benefit hugely as now Russia is reliant upon China to buy its gas.
China gets cheap gas. and dependency of Russia.
Russia could perhaps front Chinas program to introduce CBDC payments via BRICS Pay...and help bring India on board...
reply
Lol, how would China benefit from blowing up north stream?
If they are so dependent on Russia for gas supplies, do you think that sabotaging Russian gas infrastructure will make them more favorable in Russia's eyes?
Retaliation for NATO from Russia?
