Many years ago, I was one of the teachers-in-charge of the Music Club. A kind volunteer used to come to my school and impart vocal tips to my students. I found the following notes on my phone.
Make sense of them, if you will. Does this help you elevate your singing performance?

I can sing to myself in my own way, but I am too shy to sing in public. 🀣
reply
Feel this. I think only my wife and a close friend know I can sing. My friend was visibly shocked when he found out πŸ˜‚
Still wouldn't quantify it as "good". Maybe just capable 🀣

My wife was cooking, and I was sitting at the table behind her, i was singing in a low tone while drumming my hands on the table softly. As soon as she turned and looked at me, I felt so shy that I stopped singing and smiled with a red face. I can’t even sing in front of my wife. Lol. 🀣
reply
Certainly love, as it can be blind, can also be deaf.

This is a cute story. Made me smile

In fairness it took me a good while to not do the mumble hum around her πŸ˜…

I'm terrible! The best singer on SN is @supertestnet 🀠
reply
Cool! But how do you know?!
reply
There may be better singers than him, but I've never heard them, so I'm only talking about the ones I've heard so far. #676377 #663764
@ek is the best pianist according to the same principle. I think @grayruby plays guitar, so he's the best in SN! 🀠
reply
There are a number of guitar players on SN. Difficult to know who is the best.

We need a contest for SN guitarists! cc/ @Public_N_M_E
reply
I have no idea how we'd even facilitate that 🀣
reply
It could be a contest (bounty+sats poll) where, for a week or two, the stackers submit their guitars and then people vote for the one they like :)
reply
We will have a Shred-Off at Stacker News Fest 2030 when we celebrate the one billionth item on SN.
reply
StackerFest... Colour me interested.

I was the lead role/singer in a musical as a kid. I've always wondered if puberty destroyed my singing, and have wanted to take singing lessons but never have.
reply
Woah, this is a great story to pull out during social gatherings. What musical was that?
reply
I got some ability. But haven't ever done anything professionally. Good enough to sound good at karaoke... Probably not good enough to give up my day job.
reply
Do I sense that you have honed your repertoire for quite some time so that you can sound amazing at karaoke? Haha

The most I do is solfeggio when I'm trying to learn a song. As I have reasonable relative pitch, I use this device to discover the chords
reply
I never knew that there is a proper term for those vocal exercises! Today I learn
reply
Solfeggio is a great resource for tuning and developing relative pitch. By practicing this consistently, you will often recognize the distance between one note and another or even chord progressions without needing the instrument.

Since I have been here in Peru, the country to which I migrated, I have been able to receive singing classes, both while maintaining my job and in my personal life I have not dedicated as much time to it as I would like, but I have received singing classes. Singing is one of the great experiences that gave meaning to my life, knowing how to express everything that songs and music transmit to us.
reply
I’m sure it must be a great avenue to meet people and relieve some of the stresses from moving to a new country
reply
It hasn't been easy, but the world of music is something that fulfills you quite a bit.
reply
I was a good singer.

Hindi songs?
reply
I'm pushing the air with my hips as hard as I can. I don't think I'm doing it right because I still sound like shit.
reply
YOU NEED TO PRACTISE!
reply
I am really bad at this πŸ˜©πŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜…
reply
Sensei will still reward you with some sats haha
reply
I never sing in front of people, but whenever someone listens me by chance they always say I sing pretty good πŸ˜…
reply
That’s your hidden talent
reply
Haha! Maybe?
