Would have been interesting to see this normalized to population, and also going back to the 70s when the "war on drugs" started

I'm not a citizen of USA, but is it true that taking drugs is very normal in US? and that too very harmful ones?

Americans do have the highest death rates in the world due to drug abuse, but I wouldn't say it's "very normal."

The arrival of viagra must have contributed a lot to the rise! I'll have to look into this further. :)

I don't think you can overdose on viagra. Maybe your partner can though.

priapism and heart attack from excessive vessel dilatation are some of the side effects of viagra. also, pilots cannot take viagra within a few hours of flying, because it causes color blindness, which can be irreversible with chronic use.

people use drugs as an escape. The loss of 'masculinity' or 'masculine' (manual-labor) well-paying jobs has had a huge impact on Americans.
Sometimes men use the drugs to cope. Women too... but women imo have a much easier time expressing how they feel and addressing their feelings

Go guy! We win this race!
Of course! Guys cannot show weakness, so they hide under drugs.
Men are losers when they fail. Women have a much bigger safety net.
Also man like to risk and try more so even on that side its easier to get into drugs.
