Thanks for reposting this, and sorry for being impatient - I was digging through on the other post and couldn’t find a thorough definition (and some comments led me away from the answer).
So are you fully against commenting on memes / other content with short answers and just rely on zaps? Coming from other platforms I feel the need to comment to show engagement and appreciation for the post, and I don’t expect zaps (to your point, it’s not valuable content). A zap doesn’t feel as strong of an affirmation of a comment, and feels like a post is bad if it has no comments but has zaps. Maybe it’s just a shift I have to get used to, but I’d imagine as users join they may have that same feeling.
When you should zap a post?
- you want that post to be more visible on SN top, so others can read it faster or don't miss it.
- you received from that post something valuable for you
When you should NOT zap a post?
- is a repeated link, without any explanation
- is a user that you know and/or appreciate and you just zap instinctively all his posts/comments. Wrong, zap only if is really necessary and that post bring YOU value.
- is a shitcoiner. See their bio or posts history. It's quite easy to find them, they always reveal themselves.
- assmilkers trying to fool others for few sats

I'm referring to replies. The zapping logic makes sense
