I am both surprised and not surprised by this decision. For Gaetz, this is a huge win although it is by no means the end of this report. There is a solid chance that Democrats will use a maneuver called a privileged resolution to force a full House vote on the matter. Gaetz still has tons of enemies in the House on the Republican side who would happily vote with the Dems to force this report out into the open.
Also this doesn't stop the Senate from going after this report as well. We have already heard that the DOJ is going to turn over their investigation and evidence against Gaetz.
You're closer to the situation than I am. Do you think Gaetz did anything, or is just mor political circus?

I would say it is much more likely he did one of the 3 things than not. For instance, he was under investigation for illicit drug use and honestly, 110% see him being a user. Also, the paying for sex I could easily see as well. The minor one I would say is 50/50 he definitely is someone who thinks he can get away with anything and so it wouldn't be to surprising.
I think that the Ethics Report has more or less receipts of these encounters, hence why they opted not to release it. If/when it comes out it likely will end his career and the longer that this is lingering to me the more likely it is that it does contain all the daming evidence one would expect.
He honestly is really a terrible person just like how he presents himself.

Why didn't the DOJ prosecute then?
It seems that a DOJ that was prosecuting old ladies for walking thru the capital and pushing for numerous bogus lawsuits against an ex-president would've jumped at the opportunity to take him out if there was any validity there....

They (DOJ) didnt really ever look into the drug use one. The underage one I have a feeling that the people who testified in front of the Ethics Committee didn't do it with the police and if they did I bet the DOJ was concerned since this wasn't a slam-dunk case and the political fallout was going to be severe

Which drug, cannabis?

All that I know of is that is was a party drug or drugs and since MJ is legal in DC def not that

Sounds like a bad pick in that case.

There is no proof he did anything wrong. Hearsay is not reasonable doubt
Edit: This is obviously a political stunt.
reply
Well hate to break it to you but they did just find the payoff money in a separate Federal Inquiry so yeah this is a bad pick and not a political stunt

Tbh awful I didnt even know he was a lawyer until the announcement I had to freakin google it and Sen. Markwayne Mullin also had to and publically said so

It’s not coming out due to the threat to reveal all of the committee’s work on all of the various congresscritters. I think that perhaps too many of them are being blackmailed and are afraid of it coming out. I think there will be hell to pay when Epstein and Diddy records get examined and put into the public domain.
reply
Not true at all they have released reports about both a House and a Senator before when they did the same thing.
reply
Any chance someone on the committee leaks it?
reply
Well supposedly a hacker has the witness testimony that spills the beans on the underage crime and I want to say two people testified to that.
I would doubt someone would leak it though given that Republicans in the House and Senate want it released. It would nuke your career and given there is already a ton of will to release it and the Committee can still be forced to then there just isn't an upside. If he gets confirmed and it never comes out (I don't see how that is possible) then I bet it does get leaked.
