Yep. The Eagles wouldn't exist without him....not to mention he was hanging with The Stones (and heavily influenced them) during their entire "country phase" (Honky-Tonk Women, Wild Horses, Dead Flower, etc)...
I think I'll listen to a little Country Honk and Dead Flowers right now!
