I feel like we get this nearly every cycle one way or another. Here's the 2012 edition where Republicans were supposedly leaving the country. As threats go, it's up there with Texas/California talks about seccession.

People on the losing side have been saying this since Kennedy, that I know of! It was really bad for Regan and Clinton times, too.
I don’t think this will ever change, but most of it is talk. The rest may have some very good reasons to actually move.
