You are not honestly reflecting the true content of the article in your above comment. You are avoiding it - the article nowhere says when or if 'the earth would restore to so called normal'... it might take tens of thousands of years or longer.
Here's a direct verbatim quote from the article (my capitals added for emphasis of what death cult Libertarians seem determined to deny)-
'But research into Earth's climate history shows that the current has switched off in the past, and a growing number of studies have hinted that climate change is causing the AMOC to slow. Worst-case scenarios suggest the current may collapse.
If the current were to stop completely, it would SOW CHAOS ACROSS THE GLOBE, causing temperatures to plummet across Europe, storms to proliferate at the equator, and other unforeseen effects to impact tipping points in the Amazon rainforest and other regions.'
Human civilisation has risen during an exceptionally stable period of global climate over the last 10 thousand years.
While the earth itself may well survive any global warming the prospects for humans who live on earth are not as assured.
The collapse of the gulf stream would have catastrophic effects on billions of people. But libertarians cannot face the scientific facts and their implications because the implication is that collective government action is essential if human civilisation is to continue without massive trauma due to GHG emissions.
But hey lets ignore the true science and continue in a cosy little Libertarian circle jerking echo chamber where we all congratulate each other on how right Libertarian dogma is...and continue spreading climate denial bullshit that endangers human civilisation.
If the current were to stop completely, it would SOW CHAOS ACROSS THE GLOBE, causing temperatures to plummet across Europe...
This is enough to understand what it'll cause. That's what people like you want. Don't tell me that you don't want to see the temperatures plummet because you now see the Earth is heating up. Something's gonna change change it. Be it the collapse of AMOC. The human civilization and this Earth more generally speaking had stood out against much worse than this and I'm sure it'll do the same.
The next time when you come to argue, kindly don't dare say I didn't read the article. FYI I'm a learner of Geology but you seem to me nowhere close to Geology.
Better fart you political take in ~politics_and_law or ~econ because I don't give a damn shit to your libertarian vs Authoritarian shit here in ~Science.

Science often intersects with politics especially where science impacts economic or religious interests that would seek to deny science. The history for this is extensive. People will frequently seek to ignore science when it challenges their self interests and their faith based or otherwise unsound faith based beliefs.
It is clear that Libertarian views on climate change are anti science and akin to a Death Cult of people denying what is a global scientific consensus. Libertarians are out on a very freaky and extreme limb here. A very dangerous selfish and anti-scientific limb.
The science is clear that the gulf stream collapse would cause multiple chaos across the planet from cooling in Europe to massive storms on the equator. These effects would adversely affect Billions of people. It is not that I want these things to happen- I do not want these things to happen- but I READ THE SCIENCE and DO NOT DENY IT. And the science is overwhelmingly saying we are endangering the global climate stability and inviting global climate CHAOS which will in turn have massive detrimental effect. upon billions of people.
Libertarians on this topic are a dangerous Death Cult and I will exercise my freedom of speech to point this out...because I give a fuck about science and I give a fuck about truth and I give a fuck about the impact this climate denial BS is having and will have upon human life on planet earth.

Libertarians.. libertarians... Libertarians...
Blah.. blah... Blah..
I told you not to mix but you're so rude to start your comment with the same and end with same politics. If you were to die, politics not gonna save you but it can kill you - I'm not sure. Make comments which are related to science or read #783241 again.

Libertarians suddenly change into authoritarians. Telling people what they can say and how they can say it.
So much for freedom of thought and freedom of speech- woooosh its swiftly banned from Libertarian circles...the moment anyone challenges their dogma.
Like a religion...such dogmatic beliefs give members a sense of security and belonging - but its not based on reason. It is based on faith. It is a cult.
Libertarians demonstrably struggle to engage in a respectful contest of ideas - a fact based reasoned debate. (see above)
Science on the other hand focuses on the facts and reasoned arguments.
Climate change is real and people who deny it are endangering everyone else. Libertarians in this context can be fairly described as a Death Cult.
