"You are not a drop in the ocean. You are the entire ocean in a drop.”- Rumi
Every time you observe something, you change it in some way even if you don’t mean to. Think about it. When you look at an object, light bounces off it and travels to your eyes. That act of observing alters how that light reflects, how the object interacts with the world.
But it goes deeper. When you focus on a feeling or a thought, the moment you acknowledge it, it’s no longer the same. By naming it, you give it structure, you pin it down, and suddenly it’s changed. Your awareness of it reshapes it, giving it form and context.
It’s like this paradox that we live in. The more we try to understand or observe, the more we change what we’re observing. So, can we ever really know something as it is, or are we just creating versions of it with every glance, every thought? Maybe in trying to see it, we’ve already shifted it into something else.
