Does the government have a right to lie? James Bovard discusses in his new article.
"But secrecy again signed a death warrant for thousands of Americans. President George W. Bush persuaded Americans to support invading Iraq by blaming Saddam Hussein for the 9/11 attacks, among other pretexts. Bush could vilify Iraq thanks to a sweeping coverup of the role of the Saudi government in bankrolling and directly assisting the 9/11 hijackers."
Regardless, the cure for all this is less government, less powerful government, and smaller, more localized governments formed for narrow purposes by associations of interested parties.

What do you think the chances are that we even see the government stop growing in the near future?

Maybe Elon and Vivek will make some meaningful steps towards reducing the size of the Federal Government. But I'm not optimistic. Trump seems like he will happily approve any spending bill that would juice the economy in the short term.

I was talking to my dad about this earlier today. He has quite a bit more faith in Elon than I do. I was trying to explain what a daunting task it will be, if they pursue the strategies that I've heard about so far.
Firing federal workers or changing their employment contracts (i.e. rescinding remote work) is going to be very difficult. They have many legal protections and the whole system will be fighting and stalling.
The best strategy, as I see it, is wholesale termination of departments.

My dad is a CNN watcher and has a serious case of TDS, so he hates Elon... sigh

What a crock!! The government is supposed to be working for us, not themselves. Agents (the state), by law, are supposed to not have secrets from their principles (us). They are supposed to be transparent and open books to all principles. Of course, this is why we have Epstein and Diddy lists and Biden pardoning Biden. Lack of transparency. And the lies are like flies on sh*t, there are so many of them.
