Pool Standings (Round 1, Dec 2024)

Pool Standings (Total Score - Dec 2024)

What a start! 3 Jumbos and 5 Bingos! Are you kidding me? We're on some serious Cricket learning curve I guess. Congrats everyone! This is very early to say who's at the or at the bottom, still I can foresee the maximum score (50 runs) in November by @Undisciplined will be easily broken if you keep on scoring this way. There's also 1 wicket. What have you done there @realBitcoinDog?

Pool Prize (Breakdown)

  • For December: 10275 Sats
  • For 2024-2025 Session (Annual Rewards: Distributed on Halloween 2025): 109450 Sats
Note: The Round 2 for December is already up.
Thanks for playing.

You must be feeling satisfied and joyous this time. You scored a big zero in the first round last month.
Congrats!
reply
Thanks! Yes!

Let’s go

What about you? You also thought you were a cricket pro?
reply
I'll try to maintain the lead.
reply
Bingo! Not a good start for me. ;)
reply
Will there be a overall leaderboard after this month’s results for the annual prize pool?
reply
Yes, with the results for the final round in December, I'll also post an overall pool standings for 2 months.
reply
Wow Jumbo's galore. What a hot start.
reply
Yupp! I think we just had an easy start as well. The matches were so easy to predict. You still at the bottom!
reply
I am just warming up. At least a Bingo this week.
reply
Everyone knows how you skip your morning exercise daily. Warming up isn't a thing for losers.
Sledging alert!
reply
Haha. Maybe losers spend too much time warming up instead of playing the game.

It's a marathon not a sprint.
reply
Your performance was just average this round. You're under the hangover of your win I guess.
reply
Typically 6 would be a great score but not on Jumbo week.
reply
Actually before allocating this point system where 'Jumbos' are highly advantageous, I mulled over it for quite some time. Instead of 10, I could have allocated 8 points but then I thought it would be apt to have a big difference between Bingo and Jumbo because ultimately everyone is gonna get Jumbos. It'd give all a fair chance even if behind by many points in the end. I hope this point system proves to be quite entertaining.
Just suppose, we only had +1 extra run for 'all 6 predictions going correct'. How boring that would have been?
reply
Personally I would rather see a different bonus prediction than the coin toss if getting everything correct is going to give so many extra points. The five other predictions seem like they require at least some degree of skill and consideration but the toss is just a 50/50 guess.
reply
We're having this for two reasons.
  • A coin toss often plays a huge part in the outcome of the match.
  • Because it's 50/50, it makes sure that some of the participants are definitely going to lose this prediction. If we have all six skill/strategy based predictions, the Jumbos and Bingos will be more normal a thing; which can kill the excitement about them.
reply
I get it. It's just quite a big difference in points between all correct including the toss and all correct but toss wrong.
You have convinced me on your reasoning for having it in but I am still stuck on the points gap.
reply
Are you saying that the 'correct coin toss prediction' gives you 4 extra points?
The gap in points isn't only because the coin toss prediction. You only get a Jumbo when your all predictions are correct.
There are overall 6 predictions to make in every round.
If any 4 of your predictions are correct, you get 4 runs, the difference occurs when the 5th one goes correct, instead of 5 points, you get 6 points.
And when all of your predictions are correct, instead of 6, you get 10 runs.
I understand what you're pointing to. It's a sudden jump from 6 to 10 points, for 5 correct to 6 correct predictions, which is a difference of 4 runs, it's huge gap.
But technically, we can only reduce it to 9 runs. If we reduce it to 8 runs, there's no difference between a Bingo and a Jumbo prediction.
A Bingo prediction gives you 1 extra run so, a Jumbo prediction should at least give you 2 extra runs.
Bingo= 6 runs Jumbo= 6 + 1 + (3 extra runs for predicting all correct).
I hope you now understand, how much of maths, I had to apply behind all of this.
We can onl reduce it to 9 points for the sake of Jumbo's importance and distinction with Bingo.
It is fun to have this large bonus.
reply
Yes. There could have been a huge difference in fun if we didn't have it. I'm now starting to think that I'm pretty good at creating fun games. Haha.
reply
I'll just control my controllables, try to maintain this pace, and see if those others fall back to Earth.
Slow is smooth and smooth is fast.
reply
Quite a start for the jumbo winners! I was pretty sure Pakistan would win their matches, but I didn't expect them to be quite this lopsided.
reply
The matches were T20 and it doesn't happen everyday a team scores 200 runs in 20 overs. It'd require a team to score 10 runs an over. If you paid attention to the previous pak vs Zim matches which were 50 overs, there was no match where they scored in access of 6 runs an over. Considering all the matches between them are played in the same venue, we all should know, It would be difficult to score 200 runs by Pakistan in 20 overs. It was bit of question that depends on a little analysis.
reply
Yeah, I was reading coverage of the ODI series they just finished right before doing my picks, and I confused the two.
reply
Bingo!
reply
Are you happy? You're alredy behind three players.
reply
At least got two bingos! You don't know how happy I am.
reply
You can be happy but I see you're again overreacting as it's just the first round.
reply
I'm happy that I am understanding cricket a little bit now. Maybe, I'm overreacting.
reply
I am understanding cricket a little bit now
So is everyone. This month is gonna be more competitive and high scoring. I also feel that tthe matches in round 1 were easier to predict but there will be rounds when correct prediction would require a lot mulling of your heads.
reply
I understand this and will try my best!
A month ago I didn't even know what an over means in cricket or who the best players are! I was just living on wild guesses! So, you can understand how much it means to me.
Thanks
reply
Slow start for me. Meanwhile, most of you have raised the bar. Will try to follow @Undisciplined steps to beat you all at the end of the month.
Well done Jumbo achievers!
